Meet Carrie

Nashville, Tennesse

Tell us a Little about yourself, your family and your business.

We live in Nashville, Tn. I am mom of 3 boys and I created a learning tool for ages 2-6 that builds a foundation of learning throughout the preschool years that will fully prepare your child for Kindergarten.

What did you do before starting The Kindergarten Tool Kit?

I was a Kindergarten teacher.

How did you come up with your company name and why?

I came up with Kindergarten Toolkit because I have created a box of learning tools that will ultimately prepare your little one for Kindergarten.

What inspired you to start your own business and how did you start it?

I was moving all around for my husband's job and I had originally created the Toolkit just for my oldest but when mom's started asking for it, I decided to have them printed so any mom could be a "teacher" to their little one.

Is there a specific tool you use that makes managing a business easier?

Managing all the aspects of a small business is tough one tool I find handy is a planner that I can write notes in about shipping, blog posts, orders etc.

What Were some of the learning curves of just starting out?

Managing the all the social media outlets! Each one is unique and you want to be able to reach potential customers

.
What's it like being a business owner and mom, how do you schedule both?

It can be tough some days but luckily I have a product that my older boys can help with when it comes to the packing of the Toolkits.

What has been your greatest lesson in business and motherhood?

My biggest lesson in business and motherhood have been one in the same and that is some days will be hard, you might want to give up but there will always be a new day that something amazing happens and it makes is all worth it.

Do you have any advice for aspiring entrepreneurs and mothers?

Listen to your heart and take some time for yourself in all the madness!

What does a “normal” day in your home look like?

A normal day consists of making school lunches and getting my big boys off to the bus, then I check my small shop social media and try to catch up on posting and replying to work emails. Then I package any orders I have to ship out for the day. I usually go to workout for an hour after dropping my youngest at preschool. Go volunteer at my big boys school or come back home to work on laundry, the dishes and fun things like that. Get my boys from the bus, do homework, dinner or after school sports practices. Then bedtime routine and I then I get back on social media to catch up and make my evening post.

I love going to workout and having lunch with friends.

I’m a huge coffee lover, and I'm always looking for new types, do you have a particular favorite?

Vanilla chai latte is my go-to morning drink if I make to our local coffee shop!
