Meet Megan and Brynlee of The Stock Place
Mamas and best friends created an awesome company The Stock Place. After becoming stay at home moms themselves, they realized there was a need for stylish women on a budget to have a place to shop for those much wanted, sometimes needed stand out pieces! They've just released some fall essentials and I've already got my eye on a couple items! Get to know these entrepreneurial mamas and then go spoil yourself at their shop!
Meet Megan and Brynlee
Salt Lake City, Utah
Tell us a Little about yourselves, your families and your business.
We are both young mothers with two kids each. We are located in Salt Lake City an eCommerce business that sells women's clothing.
What did you do before starting The Stock Place?
We actually grew up dancing together and then danced on the BYU Cougarettes in college. After graduating and moving on from the glory days, we got married and started having kids. We LOVE being moms but wanted an outlet and something that would challenge our minds. Thus, The Stockplace was born.
How did you come up with your company name and why?
We wanted a name that reflected the nature of the business and was simple and unique.
What inspired you to start your own business and how did you start it?
We have always had a passion for shopping and clothes but as young moms, we were on a budget. So we decided we wanted to start The Stockplace to provide people with cute, unique clothes at an affordable price.
Is there a specific tool you use that makes managing a business easier?
Our mobile shopify (the platform we use for our website) makes managing orders and inventory so easy and accessible.
What Were some of the learning curves of just starting out?
Everything. We started this business completely blind but we have learned so much song the way and we are so proud of how much we had grown.
What's it like being a business owner and mom, how do you schedule both?
It's a little bit crazy and chaotic but we do most of our work during nap time and after our kids go to bed at night. But it's so fulfilling to do both.
What has been your greatest lesson in business and motherhood?
Taking joy in the journey. Often times business and motherhood get overwhelming and it can be easy to worry and stress about the future but we try to be present and enjoy the things currently going on and we are much happier.
Do you have any advice for aspiring entrepreneurs and mothers?
Take everything one day at a time. It's so easy to get overwhelmed but just if you take things one day at a time you can do anything. And just remember that tomorrow is a new day to start fresh. Oh, and don't try to multitask and answer emails while trying to be a playful mom. It's not possible to be amazing at both simultaneously. Take time for your kids and give them the attention the deserve. Then find the time to give your customers the attention they deserve.
What does a “normal” day in your home look like?
A normal day for both of us consists of juggling wild toddlers, trying to accomplish house tasks, run errands, and run a business... In our pajamas. It's usually wild and chaotic buy we wouldn't have it any other way.
Besides business and your family, do you have any hobbies you love to enjoy (when you have the time)?
We both love a good book. Reading is an escape that's peaceful and quiet, something we don't get a lot of. And if I could surf behind a boat every day, I would!
I’m a huge coffee lover, and I'm always looking for new types, do you have a particular favorite? Or any other type of beverage?
When we really need a pick me up, we love ourselves a nice cold coke.
Who has been an inspiration to you in your life and why?
Our parents. They have always worked so hard to give us so many opportunities and teach us life lessons that have shaped us into the women, business owners, and mothers we are today and we hope we can do the same for our children.
If you could travel anywhere or do anything in the world what would that be?
We went on a study abroad to London together and we would love to be able to do back and relive all of those memories together.
If your children learn one thing from you what would you wish that to be?
That you can do or be anything you want to be.
I think I need to make a trip to Salt Lake City if that's what the scenery is like! Beautiful photos and beautiful mamas! head over to their Instagram @thestockplace for some more goodness!
