This super trendy entrepreneurial Mama and her adorable little son launched their kid's clothing shop Minted Method Shop this year and it has taken off! Her Instagram feed makes me pretty much want everything ( thanks, Sasha!) The selections and the brands she supports are all I can say, perfect! I hope you enjoy reading about this mama and what pushes her to keep following her dreams!

Tell us a Little about yourself, your family and your business
Started out as a fashion/lifestyle blogger based in Seattle, Washington. I wanted to quit my day job and stay at home with my new baby (now 6 months old). My blog called Minted Method was started in 2013 as a creative outlet. I worked on the sales floor at a major department store working my way up through management and then to the corporate headquarters in the buying offices. My focus was always on women's fashion, but after having her baby boy realized there wasn't a lot of options out there for fashion forward moms and their babes. On my maternity leave I started researching brands and quickly identified a need for a kids modern and trendy online boutique that interacts with their followers on social media. As a blogger myself I know how excited people get when the brand/store interacts with their followers. I hope to create a community with my boutique and interact with our customers! My husband Ken is a CFO/CPA by day and helps with the business on the weekends.
What did you do before starting Minted Method Shop?
I worked for Nordstrom Corporate in the Buying office.
How did you come up with your company name and why?
My blog name is Minted Method, so Minted Method Shop just seemed right.
What inspired you to start your own business and how did you start it?
My son Eli inspired me. I bought a book off Amazon about starting my own online boutique and just went for it!
Is there a specific tool you use that makes managing a business easier?
The book off Amazon is called 'So You Want To Be The Boss? How To Start an E-Boutique and Make Money in 10 Steps. We started our shop on Bigcartel.com (easy & cheap) until we started to out grow it at 3 months and twitched to Shopify.com. Instagram is our #1 marketing platform (it's free YAY!) and Pinterest is #2. Google Analytics is a must if your business is online.
What were some of the learning curves of just starting out?
Start small and build up. Buying into too much inventory of one thing before you know it will sell is never a good idea!
What's it like being a business owner and mom, how do you schedule both?
Well baby comes first. You need to find a rhythm. I get the most done when he is napping or after he goes to bed.
What has been your greatest lesson in business and motherhood?
Make sure to put my son first. He is growing too fast and he is the reason why I started the business in the first place!
Do you have any advice for aspiring entrepreneurs?
Biggest advice is learn how to get a organic following on social media, whichever channel it best for your business. We wouldn't be a company without our Instagram followers. And be original, don't copy other businesses. You will be better if you aren't comparing yourself to anyone.
What does a “normal” day in your home look like?
Breakfast with my son. Check emails and do a morning post on Instagram. Once my son is down for his morning nap I fulfill orders and catch up on business. Lunch and run errands. Back home for another social media post and light computer work while my son plays. Fulfill more orders when he takes another nap. I spend time with my husband and make dinner. After I put my son to bed I stay up pretty late making sure I got everything caught up. If I get behind it's like a snowball effect! I drink LOADS of coffee!
Besides business and your family, do you have any hobbies you love to enjoy (when you have the time)?
I have a horse that I try to ride on the weekends!
I’m a huge coffee lover, and I'm always looking for new types, do you have a particular favorite?
I am obsessed with coffee and get the Chameleon Cold Brew Coffee from Costco!
Who has been an inspiration to you in your life and why?
This will sound cheesy, but I love the blogger Amber from Barefoot Blonde. I love how she travels with her little babies! The day I get to collab with her, I will know I've made it! :)
If you could travel anywhere or do anything in the world what would that be?
Really dying to go to Australia!
If your children learn one thing from you what would you wish that to be?
I want them to have a good work ethic. Nothing great comes easy.
